Sportscaster Bob Costas drew the ire of “The Big Weekend Show” panelists hours after criticizing Trump supporters as members of a “toxic cult” on CNN’s “Smerconish” on Saturday.

“74, 75 million people in this country voted for Donald Trump. I’m not sure that’s a good look (for Costas),” said Guy Benson, a radio host and Fox News contributor.

As the discussion turned to former President Donald Trump’s victory in Nikki Haley’s home state of South Carolina on Saturday, Benson, along with Fox News contributors Katie Pavlich and Lisa Boothe, approached Costas with their own opinions on the current state of politics.

“From sports to saying Trump supporters are a cult… It was a deplorable moment for him,” Pavlich chimed in.

CONSERVATIVES TARGET HALEY AFTER TRUMP WINS SOUTH CAROLINA PRIMARY: ‘NO ROAD TO VICTORY’

Boothe argued that the criticism would apply to whoever dominates the Republican race to retake the White House in November. With that race down to two people – and with Donald Trump securing every primary and caucus victory so far – the spotlight has largely turned in his direction.

“Let’s say Nikki Haley got the nomination, but she won’t get it. He’d be directing the same anger at her, right? Remember, they called John McCain a racist. Mitt Romney was a sexist. Basically, if you’re a Republican, you have a target in the back,” he said.

“They’re going to criticize Donald Trump, but we’re seeing, with Joe Biden, a fractured coalition of the people that propelled him to victory in 2020, saying, ‘You know what? We thought you were going to be better.’ You weren’t. And now Trump comes in and can easily say, ‘Things were going well on my watch…'” he continued.

Costas, during his appearance on “Smerconish,” called Trump “the most disgraceful figure in modern presidential history,” in addition to criticizing his supporters.

“He (Trump) is a bubbling cauldron of disgusting traits,” she told host Michael Smerconish.

TRUMP ‘DON’T REALLY THINK ABOUT’ HALEY AFTER SOUTH CAROLINA VICTORY, SAYS HE’S FOCUSED ON BEATING BIDEN

“You have to be in the middle of some kind of toxic delusion and in a toxic cult to believe that Donald Trump has ever been, in any sense, emotionally, psychologically, intellectually, or ethically fit to be president of the United States.” he added. “But his fans are focused on that.”

Costas further chastised President Biden for running for re-election and therefore risking plunging the country into “madness” by setting the stage for Trump to take office again.

“He could lose to Trump and subject the nation to four more years of this kind of constant madness. Or if he survives, there’s a good chance he won’t be able to complete his second term. By the end he’d be 86.” he said.

Former President Trump quickly scored a victory over former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley in Saturday’s showdown in the Palmetto State, another essential victory as he seeks to clinch the nomination and face President Biden in a rematch in November.

Both candidates now look to Super Tuesday, scheduled for March 5.
