Two parents from Kent County, Michigan, are reportedly accused of abusing their children for more than a decade and forcing them to eat dog food with milk, oatmeal, and hot sauce.

A local CBS station in Kalamazoo, Michigan, reported that Kris and Alan Jones of Wyoming, Michigan, were arrested Friday on three counts of child abuse and torture.

Court documents show the couple adopted three children, the station reported. Then in 2013, the couple allegedly began abusing the three children.

Some of the reported abuses include making children sleep in a garage in all weather conditions, and Kris Jones is sometimes accused of making children sleep on cement by removing carpet.

When it was time to eat, the children were put in dog collars and fed dog food with oats, milk, and hot sauce.

While at school, one of the Joneses’ adopted daughters was seen eating food out of the trash because she was not fed at home, court documents state.

The Joneses are also accused of pushing the children down stairs, and of hitting and strangling them while restraining them.

Court documents also allege that parents made their children run for miles whenever they misbehaved as a form of punishment.
