While speaking at CPAC on Thursday, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) repeatedly said Ukraine “cannot win” Russia’s war against the country.

“We were the ones who forced this war, because we continue to force NATO in Ukraine and show Russia: hey, we are going to build military bases on your borders. And Putin said, no, no, you’re not going to do that,” Tuberville said at the conservative conference in the D.C. area.

“I didn’t vote for money going to Ukraine because I know they can’t win,” the Republican senator continued.

“You hate that they killed 300,000 or 400,000 people, so the Russians too. You hate that we support this. We’re pushing them in front of the guns or in front of the bus, I guess you’d talk. “It’s an atrocity, but they can’t win,” Tuberville added.

Tuberville also later added that “Donald Trump will stop (the war) when he first comes in.”

“He knows that Ukraine cannot win. He can reach an agreement with Putin,” he said.
